Wedding Photographs and Thanks

by liz on May 16, 2011

The 1st of May 2011.  Seems like forever ago now.  Here I am sitting in Tokyo under the roof of Fold and Kyomi.  We are settling in somewhat and learning as much lingo as possible.  All the credit goes to Kiyomi with her patience in teaching us our survival phrases.  But tomorrow we bring you our first post from Japan.

Below the talented photographer Gemma Rose Turnbull provided this groovy slide show for our blog.  Please enjoy.  And thank you Gemma for some amazing photographs.  You are truly talented.

So some stuff about the wedding, I think Roy explained a little about the pig.  We sourced an organic free range Wessex Saddle Back.  YUM!  Being foodies we had a banquet of food, all vegan except the pig of course.  Roast veggie salad, broccoli, brussels prouts, veg roast (for the vegans and vego’s), and lastly a vegetable cassoulet.  Which i have all ready given the recipe out for twice.  Crazy.  Must of been good or was it we were all drunk?  With the delicious pig we had some apple sauce provided by Teresa.  To finish off all the eating we had a cheese cake – a big ass plate of cheese.  This also came along with Tess’s Quince paste and my own fig jam.

Thank You

We have so many people to thank for helping make our day special (weekend).  So thanks for helping, thanks for coming, thanks for being there, thanks for the shoulder or hugs.

For the important food brigade thankyou Teresa for all the help designing an awesome menu.  Recommend her for the next wedding!  Tess; thanks for the quince paste.  Kev; thank you for cooking the pig, it was a hard ass day of turning that pig after the motor conked out.  Every member of the party has commented about you and your amazing effort of the pig!  Thanks, Tina (Kev’s partner in crime)  for all your running around and foody help too. Almost forgot the blood sausage mission; thank you Ian and Sarah for helping Roy.

To my Parents Allen and Mandy for putting us all up.  What a festival we had.  I think if you want to book in for next year we will have to start up a website!  Will keep you all posted.  Harry and Marg thanks for the booze, and the amazing arch that was built down the paddock.

Many constructions took place over a week for the day.  The spit, the arch, a stage, camping area, toilet block, kitchen area, fences,  marquee, probably more.  I just don’t remember.  Thanks Allen, Mandy, Kev, Tina, Amy, Benjie, Hugo, Ian, Sarah, Harry, Andy, Juna, Jasmine, Luke, Joe, Brendan and probably a bunch of others for all the hard work.

Packing down was also another big part of the weekend was setting up and decorating and packing down.  Lily we owe you a big thankyou for doing one of our to-do lists.  Delegating people to help with a few bits and pieces.  Thanks for getting the job done.  Also for those of you who helped decorate and packdown the hire equiptement.  Really big thanks.  because it was the worst part i think.  We owe you another beer i reckon.

Also a shout out to Marion from Betty Harlow.  Thanks for letting me use your petty-coat and making my dress, it was perfect.  If you look at the photos near the endish you will see my amazing dress!

If I have missed any names, Thank you!  So many people helped, participated in a wedding that I was apart of and made is so special that Roy and I will never forget.

Thanks everyone for coming!

Tomorrow our food journey begins with our first few days eating around Tokyo.

Big love folks. A photo is only as good as its content, and you lovebirds made it an easy, easy photo (or 345) to make.

Here’s to the Roy wedding! Send us back some awesome stories and photos, I’m looking forward to drooling over your pics (of food, of course)! Love you. xxx

I could have cried looking at these, -actually I did. Gem, you did a great job. I remember you in the red dirt of the peanut field. I guess I can safely say that a good photographer knows how to get down and dirty, in order to get the best shots.

Hi, I just came across your blog as a fellow Brisbane foodie, and stumbled upon the little wedding slideshow of yours. I have to say the wedding/weekend that you held beats all other weddings that I have been to or heard of! It looked perfect! Great food, beautiful environment, amazing outfits! Sorry if I sound like a bit of a creepo, I try really hard not to be haha but it is refreshing to know that they’re are still some pretty rad people out there who make weddings about what it should be – not for the commercial bullshit. ha! Ok Im going to get off my (extremely high) high horse now and finish off with a nice little comment – great work!
