Growing up in the hinterland we use to come to the beach to swim and eat fish and chips often. My parents still come back to Alexandra Headlands for mini holidays and have always talked about this place Surfcoast Seafood to get a decent fish and chips from. Only recently I have finally had the chance to eat here, I have been back since too.
Roy and I have a standard order when we go and eat fish and chips. 1 or 2 pieces of fish depending on how hungry we are, calamari cause I love the stuff, seafood sticks cause they have a weird texture and if we are starving chips. They have to be well cooked crunchy chips too.
Our order was cooked quickly and then we sat at a table outside of the takeaway shop. While I was snapping away at the food, I had a couple walk by us going look its a food photographer. I was not sure how to feel, I laughed and realised now much I don’t really care anymore about taking my camera out to take photos of food. Times have changed
The fish and chips here are fantastic, the fish fillet was tender while the crumbed exterior was crunchy. The price is affordable and if you want you can cross the road and eat in the park or on the beach. Weekends here are hectic but well worth the wait I recommend getting a piece of reef fish in your order too. They also do a good batter for the fish which is very crispy.
Though I am still searching for the best crumbed calamari on the coast. No extra special spices or flavours just original. Tell me Sunshine Coast, where do you go for fish and chips?

I can’t help you with the perfect Sunshine Coast search, unfortunately! But, these ones do look great! It is amazing how hard it is to get great fish and chips! The only place I remember having fish and chips in Queensland was at a huge fish and chip place on the Spit and they were gooood!
Is that outside the Oaks Seaforth, by the way? It looks very familiar.
Yes it is. The place is the spit is were we went as kids. Since then my folks have swapped places and like eating here. I just want real tasty calamari.
