Cool Down With Smooze In The Heatwave

With temperatures set to sore for the next week, I am nervous, nervous for my garden and trees that are all ready shriveled and look dead.

The last heat wave that swept through Queensland was at the start of December three days of over 40′c temp, I was away in China and Roy in PNG. I returned home to plants that were brown and very crispy. Over the last four weeks they have just started to send out some new leaves we have had a few patches of rain – nothing to get excited about though. 2mm here and 2mm there and one down pour while we were at Woodford Folk Festival of 14mm! Huge! The great thing about no rain it means you don’t have to be constantly mowing your grass, you can see above our paddock looking pretty damn dry – the green bits are all weeds and they are just holding on.

It is now 10am in the morning and it has all ready reached 32′c. Only 4 more hours until peak temperature is reached – who knows how hot it is going to get. Lucky for me I have the opportunity to cool myself down by slurping on a Coconut and Pink Gauva Smooze.

Smooze are 100% natural fruit ice blocks. Over the last year I have been really fond of using coconut oil and sugar as a healthy alternative to other products. These frozen ice blocks are made with coconut milk, which means that they are low in calories and are also dairy free and gluten free. As we have changed our pantry around we have also been buying products that have no artificial colours, flavours and weird-looking numbers on them.  Smooze ice blocks are free from free from cholesterol, trans-fats, artificial colours and flavours, preservatives and genetic modification – how cool is that. I don’t think you could find a better ice block, unless you made it yourself as you wont find any on your shelves at the supermarket. strayedtable-7527

I have just slurped down a coconut & Pink Gauava and I looking forward to having more over the next few days. This heat is really not pleasant when you only live in a shed with not enough trees to provide shade to hide under.

Give them a go I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how good they are in flavour as well as they are really good for you.

Smooze Fruit Ice is a 100 per cent natural fruity ice block available in four flavours: Pineapple + Coconut, Mango + Coconut, Pink Guava + Coconut, and Simply Coconut.  Smooze Fruit Ice is available in the dessert aisle of supermarkets, unfrozen and next to the jellies and maple syrups.

NOTE: Smooze sent me some free product samples to review (thanks Smooze), my opinions are still my own in this post.

Sounds like a rather interesting product Lizzie. Got to love something with no numbers in the ingredients! Hope your garden survives the heat wave.

Thanks Claire, I have my fingers crossed for the garden, I will need to water it every morning and afternoon for the next week by the looks of it.
