Last Friday we got our baby seat (capsule) fitted in our car. We now have every thing organised, even our car is ready for a baby. After talking to new mums around the place Roy and I decided on hiring a baby seat instead of buying one. There are plenty of places you can hire baby seats and other equipment around. However we stuck with going through the Queensland Ambulance Service. They seem to be the most popular and the same price as anywhere else.
There are plenty of cool nifty car seats available on the market these days, ones that clip into prams, ones with extra safety features and I’m sure there are ones that just look cool. When the guy installed our baby seat he said that these are one of the safest on the market. I just need to put in a towel and find some sort of baby head support for the car seat. One last little job, but not necessarily important straight away. We just need to get bub home from the hospital first before we take it out on big drives.
Now the waiting game begins…
This week I even managed to come down with the flu. Being sick is not something I am good at and being 39 weeks pregnant to boot is definitely not a flattering combo. I thought at one point at the start of the flu I was going to sneeze the baby out. I am on the other end now of the flu, just a little stuffiness in my head still but otherwise it has given me the best excuse to really relax and get some much needed rest before my new role as a mum kicks in. We had plenty of chicken broth and veggies to get me back again, I am just glad the flu didn’t last more than two days.
We wont know our selves with an extra person on board. How am I ever going to fit 5 hay bales in the car again? My farm ute is going to have to go into retirement (sunday drives only) or we could just buy a ute?
