Sleeping Through The Night

Sleeping babyIt has been four nights in a row now little Isla has slept through the night and I am wondering is four nights enough to make a pattern. I have heard that after three days/nights that a baby can learn new patterns and routines. Though I may be getting a little excited about the future of my sleep.

Isla slept through her first night at six weeks. I freaked out big time. I woke up suddenly and realised that she had not fed and the light was coming in to our room. Instantly I had to check she was still breathing. She was fine she was just having a big sleep it was a twelve hour one. Since that day we have dabbled with full night sleeps and if not we would usually only feed once through the night at two. Over a month ago Isla slept for six nights in a row through the night and I was ecstatic. Then we went on holidays and the routine was broken.

At the moment Isla is determined to get this crawling thing down. I think she is wearing herself out each day with the frantic arm and leg movements she does to get around. Also more and more food is going down so I think she must be fuller by the end of each day. Could be winning here though the start of movement will mean that I will be watching her like a hawk so things don’t get destroyed.

I have my fingers crossed that we will keep this sleep pattern until those dreaded teeth come up again. Honestly teething is just no fun. Mind you I would be happy if the teeth just magically appear through the night.

What do you think, am I home free of the two o’clock feed?

  1. In my experience I would say enjoy it while it lasts! Overall my little girl (16 months) is sleeping pretty well now but there were lots of ups and downs along the way..she would just get sleeping through..then she would get sick…or another tooth would come through…etc etc lol šŸ™‚

  2. You might be. Now that she’s eating more, she might not get the grumbly stomach pains that wake her up. Fingers crossed.

  3. I remember the first time my daughter slept through the night (she is now 27). I was so scared when I woke up that morning. But of course she was fine. They do sleep through eventually.

    • They grow up so quickly, don’t they. I am surprised that Isla is seven months next week and she is almost crawling and taken up the art of eating. So much more to come.

  4. Wow Isla is a clever one! Hoping she keeps this up šŸ™‚

  5. I have no idea, but I sure hope it lasts! šŸ™‚

  6. It wonderful when they get through a full nights sleep but on the flip side, I was like you getting up to check on them through the night to make sure they were breathing. Either way the lack of sleep and broken sleep takes it toll but thing do settle down and I agree with her using more energy and eating more food she will wear herself out and sleep well.
