A beautiful morning doing the lighthouse walk in Byron Bay this morning.
We like to start at the pass and walk the beachfront path to the top. The cafe at the top has ice cream so it's great incentive for the kids to get there.
Depending on the day we will with go through the forest or down the path next to the road to form a loop.

{new post} Over on the blog I share a local spot that is dear to my heart. Now, I am not much of a beach person as I prefer the mountains anyday. However this spot just rewards me each time with either a whale siting, a brahminy kite or glorius sunsets.
It's magic and its called Cabarita Headland.

You know what is BS - consumerism. Halloween is now really a thing here, it has been building over the last few years but honestly - I still dont get it. Yes it's fun to get dressed up, yes it's fun to have a party. but......

The tradition of Halloween originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. Now my love of all things pagan loves this idea, but for me trick or treating doesn't seem necessary nor wrapping a house in plastic cobwebs.

I've been educating my kids on the origin of Halloween and thankfully we dont live in suburbia so we are never going to see any trick or treating. I'm sure my kids will keep asking me the same questions each about this tradition that I have not been brought up with.

So I make up for it by having bonfires in our yard, and inviting friends around to celebrate the season. Yes I like to do a bit of energy clearing with my homemade smudge sticks this is a ritual I can identify with.

Not one that encourages more plastic shit to be made, feeds our kids sugar and the need to fit in because everyone else is doing it.
