Here in the Byron Bay Hinterland folks are getting ready for Splendor in the Grass. Masses of music lovers come from the cities to spend the weekend camping out and boogieing each night. Then before too long it will be festival season with the weather warming up and we will be getting ready for Woodford.

Each year we go to Woodford Folk Festival and camp out for the week over Christmas and New Years and we have done it for years. After years of refining my list of what to pack here is my ultimate guide to festival camping. Be it Splendor in the Grass, Woodford Folk Festival, Falls Festival, Glastonbury, Reading or even the Gympie Music Muster. There are plenty of extra items on the list that you may not need but when you spend eight nights at a music festival in summer in Queensland many of the items do come in handy, especially a shovel.

Another important part of being ready for a festival is getting your day pack sorted. What you want to take into the festival each day. Here is my list

  • Hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Long Sleeve Shirt – Summer
  • Super comfy shoes for your feet
  • Water
  • Snacks
  • Emergency Poncho
  • Umbrella – if it is pouring
  • Cash
  • Program/Tickets/Highlighters
  • Camera/phone

Tell me what is your favourite music festival and what can’t you live with out while you are there?

  1. Thanks for the festival camping checklist 🙂 Although I think I’ve got everything sorted, this will certainly make sure I have, especially for a first time festival camper like me LOL

  2. Some great tips! My favourite festival is either Rainbow serpent or Laneway. Rainbow is like nothing else I’ve ever been to! xx
