Well, here we are in Scotland.
After months of planning, we made it, we are now officially living in Fort William in the Highlands. We have been in the UK for only a week and we made the drive up from Wales two days ago to get the kids settled into their new school, which starts tomorrow.
Today we went to explore the Glenfinnan Monument but also ended up watching the Harry Potter train go over the Glenfinnan Viaduct. We have no clue to what we are doing, things just keep unfolding with us being in the right place at the right time.
I visited the monument back in 2005 on a whirlwind tour of the Highlands while I was living in Edinburgh at the time. The Viaduct in the valley behind was mentioned but it wasn’t a place you would go and take photos of. Fast forward to today and several Harry Potter books later the Glenfinnan Viaduct is a tourist attraction with walking tracks, viewing spots and a picnic area.
I’m going to keep it short today and let the pictures and video speak for themselves. I’m absolutely in awe of this country, it’s magic, it’s history, it’s mountains – I’m in my happy place, the Scottish blood in me is very happy right now 🙂
