Last long weekend Isla and I took a road trip to my folks place at Bunya Red Farm just outside of Kingaroy. It was our first overnight experience away from home plus a long drive in the car. We had a great run up to my folks however the way home was tedious with the long weekend traffic – yes even in the country there are heaps of people on the road. Most with caravans, trailers, horse carts and well packed SUV’s.
Nothing beats cabin fever than leaving your home. Isla and I have done many trips out of the house towards the coast which is about 40 minutes away. Staying away for two nights was just what we needed. My folks got to have plenty of hugs with their first grand daughter who was lapping up all the attention. She has just learnt to smile and the cooing is just adorable too. Perfect state to hand her over to some loving arms.
I packed up Isla’s bed to take with us as I have heard that it helps with the little one’s sleep while she was away from home. She actually didn’t mind being away from her usual place. The sound of the voices were familiar and being outside is her favourite place. This enabling me to do some work for my folks while I was there.
Missing working outdoors I jumped at the chance to lend a hand. Isla got all the love while I was close by encase she needed a feed. My folks had to plant another 100 capers over the long weekend along with 3 kilo’s of garlic. I got my hands dirty and got to do what I love best playing in the soil. Isla also got to go for her first tractor ride while I walked alongside her.
Where did you take your kids for their first overnight adventure?
