Refoucusing on my WHY

Last month I attended a blogging conference and it has had my brain working on overdrive ever since. One of the biggest things I took away from the conference is finding my WHY. It sounds really silly at first but just think about it for a sec. Why do you make the choices you do every day?

I have been sitting on this question now for a few weeks. Working out how to put things into perspective. As many of you know we recently moved away from the farm to a small town in the Northern Rivers (near Byron Bay). The move has been fantastic and I often wished we had of done it sooner.

Our lives have become full again. Roy has a job which is challenging him (in a good way), Isla has her dad home everyday as he no longer does FIFO out work and I want to focus on setting myself up with a new purpose. I don’t want to  just be a mum, wife, cook or cleaner. I want to be something more. I want to inspire people and help them to make better choices on how to live easily. Feed them with nourishing foods teach them how to cook and create a community around me.

The biggest ‘ah-ha’ moment after leaving the farm is that I realized that I was isolated. We had a few wonderful friends around us but it was tough going meeting people and especially those that were on the same page. Here I am surrounded by creative, inspiring and passionate people. The energy down here is full of zest. I feel like I have finally woken up.

No longer am I working on the farm and selling vegetables, instead I have time to be creative and explore. My goal now is to take this blog to the next level. You have probably seen a few changes over the past few months, while I have been tweaking away to make it more visually appealing and mobile friendly. Yes my site loves mobiles now. My purpose is to make a living from what I love, sharing my stories, recipes, eating and of course travelling to teach and explore.

I am a big believer in manifestation (yes I am one of those people). If you don’t put it out there, then it just wont happen. Today I am putting me first and by sharing with you I hope that things evolve.

Having purpose and getting paid for you work is something I want to feel. I have implemented some ads into the blog to help pay for the time I put into this space. Soon I will be looking at doing sponsored posts and I am even putting together an online sourdough workshop! I said it, it is going to happen now! It will be a course that you can learn the basic principals of sourdough with some instructional video’s. I need to add these things in so I can put food on our table.

My WHY is my family and self love. I want to be the mum that is home after my kids are finished school to help with homework or to hang out in the park.  I want to be the wife who cares my husband to make sure his needs are being met. I want to spend time with my family doing the things we love. To do this I need to love me. I want to have space to be creative but have a flexible working schedule to look after my two favourite people. I need to nourish my body and my mind, that is why I am doing a Get REAL about Wholefoods – 30 day challenge this month.

What I would love from you, my dear reader is a moment of your time. Could you please fill out this survey to help me understand what I can do for you or maybe you can send me an email ( to say hello and tell me how I can help you.

If you are heading over to do the survey – thank you in advance.

This space has been rocking since 2007, and it is time I took it seriously and turned it into a real job which pays the bills. I love blogging and just like the shoes hanging on power lines which you see randomly around the world it puts a smile on my face knowing that someone took a chance (most likely drunk) to do something bold. In this case throw a pair of shoes at a power line. What they did though was make a statement that they were there!

  1. Lovely post. I need to think more about my ‘why’ too. May I suggest that you change your survey slightly so that more than one box can be ticked for each question?
