Shilin Night Markets

On Saturday night i headed out to apparently the best night markets in Taipei. It was absolutely packed. I went to have a look and maybe grab a bite to eat, but ended up buying a few extra thinks. You know how it goes. I got some thongs, a wallet, a belt and some handkerchiefs.

The market itself crowded into the very narrow lanes of a larger block. I was impressed to see people on scooters riding through the crush.

I also got some food. Starting with a sausage on a stick. Something i have been meaning to try since i got here. It wasn’t too bad. I was expecting something a little saltier though.I got some cooked meat stuff from the stall above. Not quite sure what it was. But it was good. I ate it on the bus down south the following day. I would buy this back in Australia for sure.I also got some Star Big Fried Chicken. And it was pretty big (hence the name). I only ate about half of it. That the shop with the blue sign above. Big line with a pretty industrial feel to the cooking.

The market spilling out onto one of the main streets. Its taking up almost half the road here.

  1. yeah, i don’t go to the night markets as often as i’d like because it’s TOO crowded! you should have gotten the sausage wrapped in the “sticky rice bun.” so good!

  2. Get me photos of veggie food… you don’t have to eat it… just photograph it! Should be lots of good stuff in San Fran
